September 25: the case for a passive preserve.

Elliot shared a request for residents to support preservation through the county’s parks rezoning feedback process. His comments emphasized the nearby trailhead infrastructure, quiet recreation, wildlife, and the need to understand drainage impacts.

That email identified a September 29 community meeting and explicitly stated that Jetta Point was not on its agenda. That meeting date has passed; this is not an invitation to an upcoming Jetta Point hearing.

Elliot also reported recent eagle observations and encouraged residents to document plants and animals through the community’s iNaturalist project.

Earlier milestones.

  1. County restriction-transfer action

The county meeting record cited in the project brief records approval of agreements transferring Florida Communities Trust restrictions from Jetta Point to Rolling Hills. This does not establish approval of the community park proposal or a completed sale.

  2. An application for stewardship

The team reported submitting an Adopt-a-Park application. Submission is not confirmation of acceptance or authorization for events.

  3. Options under discussion

The organizer reported that the land’s future remained undecided and that cleanups were paused. The outcome of a planned August 18 site walk has not been confirmed in the supplied materials.
