COMMUNITY ISSUES / TRAIL ATMOSPHERE

Cycle, run, walk, breathe.

Preserve the shade, quiet, and natural setting of the Cross Seminole Trail.

Why it matters

The Cross Seminole Trail is a gem of our community: a place for exercise, community commuting, family time, or a moment of quiet. Neighbors describe losing shade and peace along stretches affected by nearby development, and we don’t want that to happen to even more of the trail.

The Black Hammock Trailhead by SR 434 provides access to cyclists, runners, and walkers of both Oviedo and Winter Springs who don’t live along the trail. But it would be threatened with obliteration if Jetta Point is developed.

And our Cross Seminole Trail has remained safe for all local residents, from children playing to high school students training to senior citizens from the Watermark. Unlike other trails in the area that have been marred by frequent crime due to access from questionable development, we want our trail to remain focused on our residents, not transients in a cheap motel or similar development.

The Jetta Point vision asks that trees, the natural setting, and a quieter trail experience remain central to the land’s future. Natural paths and modest amenities could support recreation while keeping habitat protection at the heart of the proposal.
